Commercial LED Billboard & Display Systems – Frequently Asked Questions

What is pixel pitch (P6, P8, P10) and which one should I choose?

Pixel pitch refers to the distance in millimeters between LED pixels. It determines image clarity and recommended viewing distance.

  • P6 LED Display – Higher resolution, ideal for closer viewing (retail centers, monument signs)

  • P8 LED Display – Balanced performance and cost for roadside signage

  • P10 LED Display – Best for longer viewing distances and budget-focused billboard installs

The smaller the pixel pitch number, the sharper the image at closer distances. A good rule of thumb- Take the P number and multiply it by 4. The number you get and further away will look like a TV. Any closer than that number and you may have some pixelation.

What is the best pixel pitch for a roadside digital billboard?

For most roadside LED billboard installations:

  • Speeds under 35 mph → P6 or P8

  • Speeds 35–55 mph → P8

  • Speeds over 55 mph → P10

We help determine proper resolution based on traffic speed, viewing distance, and budget.
